CLASS OF 2029

OH, August! You are a busy, busy month that always flies right by my tired eyes. The beginning that is full of Target trips (but let's be honest what month isn't?), welcome back meetings & emails, and trying to make that cold room, warm & welcoming. The middle is CRUCIAL to setting the tone of what the year will bring, and the end of the month is all about repetition & creating a family community within the classroom.

There are many times when James and I love a good Sunday night, cozied up on the couch, clicking through movies on Netflix, only to wind up watching the Office.

This is not the Sunday night I am talking about. This is the...anxious of the week ahead, wondering what's to come, can't sleep because there's too much on the brain kind of Sunday night.

I am only in day 3 of August, and I am feeling so many emotions. I am excited, nervous, & ready to meet my firsties!! It's also an absolute dream to walk in to my packed up classroom on Day 1, and it take me 25 minutes to make it look semi put together (with the help of my James)...all because I AM IN YEAR 4 of teaching!! That. feels. so. good. to say. Although, I think I am still the youngest faculty member at my school...we won't talk about it.

Usually on Labor Day weekend (first time to breathe), I look back at August and am always SO grateful for the time & effort I have put in to start the school year off well. The tired eyes are worth it. The paper cuts are worth it. The rush of Open House is worth it. The EARLY mornings are worth it. The little details...worth it. It's all worth it when you know you are affecting & loving on little lives. O N E more days, and this room will be filled with 20 of the cutest little ones &  O N E proud teacher.

XO, Meredith
